
University of Kelaniya Signs MoU with TRACE Sri Lanka to Drive Innovation
The University of Kelaniya, along with the Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT), proudly signed a milestone Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TRACE - Sri Lanka, marking a transformative step forward in strengthening academia–industry collaboration in Sri Lanka.
The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Kusal Subasinghe, President of TRACE, and Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. The ceremony brought together distinguished delegates from TRACE, including Dr. Sankalpa Gamwarige, Senior Vice President / Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Heminda Jayaweera, Vice President / Executive Director, along with academic representatives and faculty members from the University.
This strategic partnership sets the stage for an exciting new era of innovation at FCT. It aims to inspire and nurture entrepreneurship among students and staff, fostering a vibrant culture of creativity and innovation across the University. The collaboration will also enhance co-working spaces, incubator spaces, and the Innovation Hub at FCT, providing essential support to emerging startups in the region. Furthermore, it seeks to establish a dynamic Technopreneur and Innovation ecosystem at FCT, creating a robust environment for innovation.
This collaboration is expected to unlock new avenues for research, innovation, and entrepreneurial development, creating meaningful opportunities for students, academics, and the wider startup ecosystem. Together, the University of Kelaniya and TRACE - Sri Lanka are laying the foundation for a future driven by innovation, collaboration, and impactful technological advancement.
